In search of accurate temperature measurement, the genius Galileo Galilei discovered this impressive method. Inside a liquid, a solid body, with the same weight and size, necessarily descends as the temperature rises. Instead, the solid body rises to the liquid when the temperature decreases. Glass balls have different weights. Given the density of the liquid, it is guaranteed that the lowest of the balls floating at the top of the cylinder indicates the correct temperature.
The production of this instrument is very complicated. Each ball is calibrated to exactly 1/2 οC. The difference in weight between two glass balls is only 6/100 of a gram. The liquid in the cylinder does not contain CF2 gases, is almost non-flammable, non-toxic and does not cause any evaporation or gas dangerous to health.
Made of glass. Temperature range 18-28 οC, gradation 20 οC, 6 balls in black, with silver plates.
